Arashi The One #1

RELEASED STUFF

Arashi became the first artist to place the top two rankings on the Oricon singles yearly chart for two consecutive years with their singles "Truth/Kaze no Muko e" and "One Love" in 2008 and "Believe/Kumorinochi, Kaisei" and "Ashita no Kioku/Crazy Moon (Kimi wa Muteki)" in 2009.
Arashi became the first artist to have two consecutive singles exceed the 500,000 mark within a week in seven years seven months since Keisuke Kuwata for two double A-side singles, "Believe/Kumorinochi, Kaisei" and "Ashita no Kioku/Crazy Moon (Kimi wa Muteki)”.
Arashi became the first male artist to achieve six number-one singles in a year with their singles "Hatenai Sora”.
Arashi became the first artist in Oricon history to sell over four million DVDs with their music DVD Arashi 10–11 Tour "Scene": Kimi to Boku no Miteiru Fukei – Stadium
Arashi became the first Japanese artist to sell over five million DVDs with their music DVD Arashi 10–11 Tour "Scene": Kimi to Boku no Miteiru Fukei – Dome+
Arashi became the first artist in Oricon history who has topped the Oricon yearly album chart for the third consecutive year in twenty years.

PERFORMANCE

Arashi became the 3^rd musical group—after SMAP and Dreams Come True—to perform at the National Olympic Stadium in Tokyo (Arashi Around Asia 2008 in Tokyo)
Arashi held their 10^th anniversary tour “Arashi Anniversary Tour 5x10”, which included 3 consecutive shows at the National Olympic Stadium in Tokyo. They became the first artist to play at the stadium for three consecutive days.
Arashi became the first to hold four concerts at the National Olympic Stadium in the same tour “Arashi 10–11 Tour "Scene": Kimi to Boku no Miteiru Fukei – Stadium”, although the four days are not consecutive.
Arashi held their tour concert "Beautiful World 2011" at four of the five major domes and the National Olympic Stadium, Arashi became the first group to play 4^th consecutive year performing at the stadium.
Arashi held a concert entitled "Ara-fes 2012" at the National Olympic Stadium in Tokyo. Arashi became the first group to play 5^th consecutive year performing at the stadium.

CONCERT

Arashi became the first group from Johnny's to perform in Shanghai , China.
Arashi became the first group from Johnny's to perform individual concerts in South Korea.
Arashi held an event organized by House Foods called ”Arashi in Tokyo DisneySea Premium Event”. Reserving the entire theme park for one night, the group performed a special medley of Christmas songs and their own songs such as "Arashi" and "One Love", which made the Arashi the first celebrity to sing their own songs at Tokyo DisneySea.

HOST

Arashi attended the 60th NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen 2009 on New Year's Eve, making it not only the group's first time performing on the show but also the first time in twenty-one years another group from Johnny's other than SMAP and Tokio, the two traditional participants, performed at Kohaku.
Arashi co-hosted the 61st NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen 2010 with Nao Matsushita, becoming the first group to host the show.
Arashi co-hosted the 62nd NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen 2011 with Inoue Mao, became the 2^nd year in a row for Arashi to be in charge of the White Team.
Arashi co-hosted the 63rd NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen 2012 with Horikita Maki, became the 3^rd year in a row for Arashi to be in charge of the White Team. Arashi unveil stage for the first time, stage using cutting edge technology “realtime AR” that reality and CD combines promptly was shown for the first time.

MAIN PERSONALITY

Arashi became the ambassador of Japan who served tourism in promoting back this country since the earthquake in Tohoku the 11th March 2011 in Japan Discovery program - Visit Japan 2011 that the ad aired in 133 countries around the world.
Arashi has been chosen as the main personality for NTV’s annual charity telethon “24-Hour Television 36 Ai wa Chikyuu wo Sukuu.” This will mark the 4th times (2004, 2008, 2012 & 2013) for the group to serve as the main personality, and moreover, they are the first main personality to take the role for 2 consecutive years.

AWARDS

Arashi break the Guinness World Records for their 60 CMs for “Android au“ in the following three categories: Most versions of CMs for the same product within 24 hours on terrestrial broadcasting, Most versions of CMs for the same product within 8 hours on paid channel, Most versions of CMs for the same product during a 30 minutes-long TV program.
On February 24, 2010, the 24th Japan Gold Disc Awards awarded Arashi the "Artist of the Year'" prize and nine other awards in various categories. As a result, they became the first artist to win ten awards at once.

MEMBERS

Ohno Satoshi is the first artiste in Johnny's who held an art exhibit entitled 'Freestyle'. The exhibit featured his works accumulated in a span of 10 years, displaying all of his artworks and drawings, including his 100 clay figures. Freestyle was held at Omotesandou Hills from February 21 - 29, 2008.
Ohno is the lead vocalist of Arashi. Although his music career is primarily with Arashi, he had a solo concert called 3104 (which can be read as his name Satoshi in Japanese) in 2006 and in 2009 he became the first and only member in Arashi to release a solo single.
In 2011, Ohno returned to the big screen starring as the lead actor in the film Kaibutsu-kun the Movie. His character, Kaibutsu Taro, is about to be crowned king, but is met with unexpected booing. Trying to escape to the human world, Taro and his three henchmen accidentally find themselves in a place known as the Curry Kingdom where he is mistaken as a legendary hero. The cast went overseas to India to shoot parts of the film. He became the first member in Arashi to star in a 3D film.

Sakurai Sho was the first in the group to perform in a solo concert, The Show, on January 14, 2006.

Sakurai is the designated rapper of Arashi and, although he had written rap lyrics (known to fans as Sakurap) for some of the group's earlier releases under the pen name "Show", his first major contribution was for the A-side song "Kotoba Yori Taisetsu na Mono". While not the first artist from Johnny's to take on rapping, his breakthrough made it easier for his juniors to rap as well despite being idols. Aiba Masaki became one of the co-hosts of the variety show Tensai Shimura Dobutsuen in 2004, making him the first member of Arashi to regularly participate in a variety show not primarily hosted by Arashi.
Aiba Masaki became the narrator for the first Japanese nature documentary that uses Japan as the film setting.

Ninomiya as he became the first artist from Johnny's & Associates to debut in Hollywood. He played a reluctant soldier called Saigo in Clint Eastwood's Academy Award-nominated Letters from Iwo Jima with Academy Award-nominated actor Ken Watanabe.
In spring 2009, Ninomiya starred as the lead in the third and final of the TBS kando drama special trilogy Door to Door, with the first and second being Sukoshi wa, Ongaeshi ga Dekitakana and Marathon respectively. The drama special was based on the true story of Bill Porter, an American door-to-door salesman who achieved the highest sales for his company despite suffering from cerebral palsy. His roles in Door to Door and Ryusei no Kizuna, make him became the first for a Johnny's talent and the first actor in his twenties who won the Individual Award in the television category of the 46th Galaxy Awards.

Jun Matsumoto is the first Japanese male to grace the cover of Marie Claire Japan.
From July 26 to August 24, Arashi embarked on a summer tour titled “One” to support their album of the same name. One of the highlights of the tour included the live performance their first single of the year, "Sakura Sake", on top of "Johnny's Moving Stage", a transparent stage that travels over the top of the audience. Invented by Matsumoto, "Johnny's Moving Stage" has since been used in a majority of Arashi's concerts to allow them to move closer to the audience seated at a distance from the main stage.
